Surface Pressure Spectra Beneath High Reynolds Number Smooth and Rough Wall Boundary Layers in Pressure Gradients
This dataset contains surface pressure autospectral densities, mean velocity profiles, and mean boundary layer parameters for a systematic family of high Reynolds number (11,000 < Re_theta < 83,000) low Mach number (0.08 < M < 0.20) turbulent boundary layer flows over smooth and very rough (300 < k+ < 900) surfaces in adverse and favorable continually varying mild pressure gradients (-0.8 < beta < 0.8). There are two Reynolds number and twelve pressure gradient cases (twenty-four total) for each surface treatment and seven measurement locations within each flow case, for a total of 336 unique flow conditions. For each condition, there is an auto spectral density of fluctuating pressure G_pp (Pa2/Hz) vs. f (Hz), mean velocity profiles dimensional (u vs. y) and viscous-normalized (u+ vs. y+), and an array of relevant scalar parameters, including local density and viscosity, boundary layer thicknesses, skin friction coefficient, and other parameters from the literature. These cases are generated by studying the boundary layer on the side-wall of a wind tunnel test-section while a NACA0012 airfoil is present in the test-section center. The presence of the airfoil displaces pressure gradient distributions on the wall as a function of model angle of attack.
