Data associated with ”Different behavior of density perturbations between dayside and nightside in the Martian thermosphere and the ionosphere associated with atmospheric gravity waves”

This provides the results of the 2-fluid model used to assess how well the neutral and ion observations from MAVEN-NGIMS can be matched to a theoretical atmospheric gravity wave. The data provide the location of each sample, and the measure of the goodness of fit to the model output.

A full description of the 2-fluid model can be found in England, S. L., G. Liu, E. Yiğit, P. R. Mahaffy, M. Elrod, M. Benna, H. Nakagawa, N. Terada, and B. Jakosky (2017), MAVEN NGIMS observations of atmospheric gravity waves in the Martian thermosphere, J. Geophys. Res. Space Physics, 122, doi:10.1002/2016JA023475. A version of the code is available at https://github.com/NASA-Planetary-Science/wave-fit-toolkit.

The MAVEN-NGIMS data are available from NASA PDS at https://pds-atmospheres.nmsu.edu/data_and_services/atmospheres_data/MAVEN/ngims.html

Ion_neutral_coupling_170_190km.csv - results of the fits to the 2-fluid model for the Ion-neutral coupling cases in the 170 to 190 km altitude range. Format is comma separated variable. Header row provides information for each column. The first column gives the date and time in ISO format. The second column gives the starting local time, in hours. The third column gives the ending local time in hours. The forth column gives the residual from the fit (%) for the neutral atmosphere case. The fifth column gives the residual from the fit (%) for the neutral-ion case. Ion_neutral_coupling_190_210km.csv as above, but for the 190-210 km altitude range. Ion_specific_coupling_170_190km.csv as above, but for the ion-specific cases. Ion_specific_coupling_190_210km.csv as above, but for the ion-specific cases. CME_170_190km.csv as above but for the coronal mass ejection cases. CME_190_210km.csv as above but for the coronal mass ejection cases. Three_fluid_wave_fit_SLE_080724 code
