This dataset includes 19 TIFF files showing debts owed to merchants from Lancaster County in Virginia. These debts were specifically owed to merchants named McCall and Dennistoun as well as their associates in the industry. These documents were collected in association with the Dangerous Harbor Project which used courthouse documents to identify escaped unfree laborers in the 17th century Chesapeake and the punishments associated with their escape.
